Priyanka Chopra launches sustainable hair care brand, Anomaly

Indian actress and film producer Priyanka Chopra Jonas joined the growing group of celebrities with their own-brand beauty lines. Marketed as ‘clean’, her care brand called Anomaly, is apparently focused on performance-driven formulas that are affordably priced. Priyanka Chopra Jonas added the benefit of ‘sustainable’ to her brand – all of the skus packaging is with plastic from landfills and the ocean. Additionally, the products can also be recycled after using. The Anomaly collection includes three shampoos – Clarifying, Hydrating and Gentle, as well as three conditioners – Smoothing, Shine and Volume, and, a dry shampoo and conditioning treatment mask. For Chopra Jonas, hair is an essential part of one’s identity, a way to express oneself and one’s emotions and a way to influence the world’s perception of oneself, she said to a source. Chopra Jonas shared the announcement with her 60 million followers on Instagram, saying she was “proud” to be part of the beauty industry.

L’occitane files for bankruptcy in the US

L’Occitane Inc, represented by Fox Rothschild, filed in the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey with $162 million in debt, blaming its financial trouble in part on the impact the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the retail sector. The New York company is a subsidiary of Switzerland’s L’Occitane International SA. The Swiss parent has not filed for bankruptcy. L’Occitane en Provence boutiques across the country are open and operating safely in accordance with all applicable Covid-related guidelines. The company claims to have ample liquidity to support ongoing operations across all channels and fulfill commitments to its valued employees, customers, and suppliers in the ordinary course during the restructuring of its US store lease portfolio, which it anticipates completing in short order.

L’Oréal recognised in Gender-Equality Index

In what can only be described as incredibly progressive and exemplary, for the fourth consecutive year, L’Oréal has been recognised in Bloomberg’s 2021 Gender-Equality Index (GEI). The 2021 GEI highlights 380 companies from 44 countries and regions. It is based on several criteria including – female leadership and talent pipeline, gender pay parity, inclusive culture and sexual harassment policies. In 2019, women represented 54 per cent of L’Oréal’s leadership positions, 54 per cent of the Board of Directors and 30 per cent of the Executive Committee. As reported, Jean-Claude Le Grand, Executive Vice President Human Relations, L’Oréal, said, “This is a recognition of our long-term efforts to empower people of all genders as part of our commitment to Diversity & Inclusion at all levels and in all functions of the company. We are convinced that gender equity is a strategic lever to increase wellbeing at work, fuel creativity and innovation, and boost performance and growth.”

Global nail care industry to see considerable growth

During the 2020 COVID-19 crisis, the global market for nail care was estimated at US$9. 9 billion, however it is all set to reach US$11.6 billion by 2027. Nail polishes, one of the segments analysed in the “Global Nail Care Industry” report, is projected to record a 2.6 per cent CAGR and reach US$7.5 billion by the end of the analysis period. The Nail Care market in the US is estimated at $2.7 billion in 2020. China is forecast to reach a projected market size of US$2.3 billion by the year 2027 with a growth of 4.5 per cent CAGR from 2020 to 2027. In the nail strengtheners segment, the US, Canada, Japan, China, and Europe will drive the 1.3 per cent CAGR estimated for this segment. Additionally, countries such as Australia, India, and South Korea, the market in Asia-Pacific, is forecast to reach US$1.6 billion by the year 2027.

Hailey Bieber files trademark for beauty brand – Rhode Island

Hailey Bieber recently filed for a trademark for a potential beauty brand called Rhode Beauty. The brand will include products such as makeup, skincare, hair care, and perfume. Like several other models and celebrities, launching a personal beauty brand was the natural next step for Beiber, who is also a bareMinerals partner. In the past, Bieber had applied for trademarks including Dew Beauty and Dewy Beauty and Bieber Beauty in 2019, which was rejected due to its similarity to husband Justin Beieber’s previous application. Hailey has always been forthright about her passion for skincare. On social media, she is known to share tips on skincare, stating that she sticks to a strict regimen, including never going to sleep without washing her face, not wearing a lot of makeup on days off, and drinking a lot of water.
