Glowing Glam

Healthy, glowing skin requires nurturing. Skincare experts share the optimal routines to protect, enhance and show-off beautiful glowing skin this summer.

Top Tips: Sharing her top three tips for summer skin care, Rukshmani Thakkar, Technical Head, Enrich, says, “I personally believe in an uncomplicated skin care routine – It should be something simple that clients should look forward to. With a shift in weather, it is important to have an appropriate weather-friendly skin care routine. No matter what the skin type of your client, you can suggest the following golden rules for sunny, summer days:

• Always, always stay hydrated – drink tonne of water, fruits, veggies. Summer can tend to make your skin dehydrated. Use products that have ingredients such as green tea and polypeptides. These will work as an anti-inflammation during those hot days and help for uneven skin tone, or pigmented skin.

• A thorough cleanse is a must! Sweat usually tends to clog your pores. Use a cleanser, which has an anti-clogging property and is suitable for your skin type. Use an exfoliator twice or thrice per week – it will help in cleaning the pores, and the build-up of dead skin. BHA beta hydroxy acids is an excellent choice for normal to oily skin.

• Regardless of the season, keep your skin well-mositurised. A light moisturiser is preferable for the summer, especially when the humidity is high. Use products that are antioxidant rich. Vitamin C would be a good choice too. Always use a good sunscreen or SPF after you moisturize your skin. Indoor or outdoor SPF is a must!”

Meenaakshie Iyer, Esthetician &  Cosmetologist, shares her tops tips. “Make sure you suggest the following to your clients for smooth sailing this summer:

SPF SPF SPF: Application of sunscreen according to the skin type is the first and foremost thing to be followed in summer to protect the skin from tanning.

Drink plenty of water to keep the body and the skin hydrated.

Do regular skin maintenance, facials, and de-tanning facials, to keep the skin healthy and blemish-free.

Follow the CMT – cleansing, moisturising, and toning every day. Apply hydrating serums and creams at night to repair dry and dehydrated skin.”

Facials for the summer: According to Thakkar, the best advice for your clients in that there isn’t a standard advice. “At Enrich, we believe in delivering any facial service as per the client’s skin type. We believe that one size does not fit all. Hence, it is important to have a thorough skin consultation before making a right choice for any valued customer.” Dry skin is something, which lacks sebum and moisture, it tends to wrinkle fast, while oily skin has too much sebum production, so the skin feels greasy, which makes it a great place for bacteria. Both Thakkar and Iyer recommend a facial, which has nourishing and hydrating properties for dry skin. For oily skin, the ideal choice of facial would be something which is anti-bacterial and has antiseptic properties. Combination skin is the most common skin type in clients, according to Thakkar, “In my experience, the T-zone is usually oily and the cheeks C-zone is dry. Post consultation, I would recommend a facial depending on if the client’s skin is more dry or oily.” Iyer thinks that combination skin clients can go for skin lightening and hydrating facials.

Post-Pandemic, beauty salons need to adopt hands-free technology for treating clients, so they need to learn the “no touch skin therapies” for safety and betterment of the client’s problems.

Top beauty treatments: As Thakkar says, “At Enrich and personally, we believe in a sustainable beauty regime. We have our own sustainable beauty brand “Born Ethical” to serve our valued customers and take care of each skin type and skin conditions. Additionally, we have varied arrange of facials and manicure-pedicure to offer our customers this summer. We highly recommend our Born Ethical facial with freezing tool therapy, along with a pampering manicure-pedicure session, with a cold paraffin wax – to keep one well-hydrated and dazzling.”

Iyer says, “Maintenance facials for problem-free skin types are great and when the clients have specific problems like pigmentation, acne, or need an anti-ageing therapy, then we recommend skin peels, microdermabrasion, RF treatments, and hydra therapy facials. Beauty salons can add electrotherapy to their facials for getting better and speedier results.

Post-pandemic beauty salons need to adopt hands-free technology for treating clients, so they need to learn the “no touch skin therapies” for safety and betterment of the client’s problems.”
