Will eye makeup take the centre-stage this festive season, and why?

Two beauty experts share their views with team PBxHJ India on achieving a stunning festive eye makeup look.

“Yes. Eye is the frame of our face. Eye makeup is important as it defines the eyes’ texture and shape well, and also gives colour to the face. It speaks about your personality, and how versatile you are when it comes to makeup. A lot can be experimented with eye makeup, and the festive season gives you this freedom. You can try colourful eyes, metallic eyes, holographic eyes, glitter eyes, and gradation colour eyes.

There is no harm in experimenting the looks. If the client is a subtle type of person, go for floating cut crease with nude colours; and if bold and getting ready for Diwali party, try a few hue off neon colours. Before applying any type of eyeshadow, one must use an eyeshadow primer so that the eyeshadow holds better, and at the same time, you can apply a concealer beneath it to intensify the shadow colour.

If you are applying the glitter glue, make sure that you do not over load it, and an important tip is to wear good quality mink lashes to add drama to the eyes.”

“Yes, because the eyes speak louder than words! Keeping it natural is the most beautiful eye makeup. It fills the entire look with class and elegance. In any makeup, 70 per cent role is played by the eye. Eye makeup always takes centre stage, be it any look… especially for the festivities.

• It frames the entire face.

• Eye makeup briefs the look – for example: soft, bold, creative, dramatic, festive.

• Lifts the tone of the entire makeup.

• The pandemic requires us to keep the face mask on, and then the eyes play a vital role to speak about every bit of your beauty.

• It balances the entire makeup look and hides imperfections, if any.

To achieve the gorgeous festive eye makeup look, focus on:

• Eye primer: it covers the imperfections on the eyes, and helps the colour pop and stay longer.

• Eyebrows: can never be ignored as it frames the entire face. It must be properly groomed, lifted and filled. The best colour for filling the eyebrow is mahogany. If we have dark hair, grey and mahogany colour works well on the eyebrows.

• Brow Bone: this is the most important part! Should always be highlighted in pearl colour… a mix of gold and silver. One can also go for a nude brow lifter for better impressions.

• Eyeshadows: Use Shades Which Give Eyes Royal, Class Yet Elegant Look. For Ex . Ruby, Gold, Copper, Pearl, Earthen Shades. To add glamour, use the lightest colour in the corners and darkest ones on the outer corner.

• Eye liner: it plays a vital role and should always be uplifted. A lifted liner makes the entire look youthful.

Gel eye liners should be used as they are easy to apply, look more natural to the eye. Liners can be placed on the lower lid of the eye as well.

• Eye lashes: play an important role. Falsies must be of natural hair, thin rim. When placing a black liner, black glue should be used for fixing the eyelashes, it merges the lashes with the eyeliner well. When placing colourful liners, transparent glue works well.

• Mascara: to groom lashes naturally, mascara is a boon! Choose to have waterproof mascara. It makes your lashes look extended, dense, curled (choose as per the requirement). Waterproof formulas always help when eyes are teary. It prevents from getting the under eyes dark.

• Eye lenses: very important! Makes the eye ball look wider. Those who wear eye glasses, can go for power lenses. For Indian tones, honey hazel and grey colours are best suited. Blue and green colour lenses to be avoided as they are best suited to European skin tones.

• Kajal: it gives the eyes framing. It can be placed on the waterline as well as on the lower lash line too. Deep kohl is perfect for the Indian makeup looks. For western looks, minimum kohl or no kohl look can be opted for and the focus can be on liner eye shadows only.”
