Which nail art trends do you predict for 2022?

Nail trend predictions for 2022 would be more towards landscape, nature drawings and miniature 3D paintings. Stickers and decals of the same will be the biggest craze.

How will you adapt the Colour of the Year -Very Peri -in your creativity?

Colour of the Year for 2022 — Very Peri — signifies joyous attitude, creativity and imaginative expressions. This shade looks best when paired with white or nude tones. Also, the reds and greens lie on the opposite side of the colour wheel, making them excellent complementary shades.

What changes have you seen in customer behaviour after the advent of the third wave?

The pandemic compelled customers to shift their expectations more rapidly. They looked at re-evaluating their priorities. Now, many of them are applying their new mindsets to where, what and how they buy.

Tell us about your plans for this year.

One of my goals for 2022 would be to be more socially active, which involves upgrading and updating social media handles, on platforms such as Instagram, YouTube etc. Making myself more visible on social platforms and upgrading on my technical know-how of the nail industry is on my agenda.

What kind of nail accessories will be big this year? Which ones will go out of fashion?

Rhinestones and Swarovski stones, gold foil, stones and danglers would be ‘in’ this year while glitter nails would go out of fashion.

Throw light on technological innovation in nail art.

We see more of the nail-art world than ever before, with platforms like Instagram, Telegram, Facebook and YouTube dominating all over the world. We are seeing, sharing and creating content around nails in a way that just didn't exist a few years back.

What advice would you give to aspiring artists?

Follow the three P’s 1. Persistence: Persistence is the quality that allows you to continue doing something or trying to do something even though it is difficult or opposed by other people. 2. Patience: Patience is the quality of calm endurance. 3. Practice: Practice with focus and discipline.

What should artists keep in mind during consultation?

Nail artist or designer acts as the connection between an artwork and a buyer. As an art consultant, he or she should consider the client’s profile, profession, affordability and suitability while selling their nail designs.
