L’Oréal Professionnel Paris applauded hairdressers for their exemplary artistic talent at the Indian Hairdressing Awards 2021.

The Indian Hairdressing Awards (IHA) were hosted by L’Oréal Professionnel Paris on 23rd March 2022 at Grand Hyatt Mumbai. This was the 4th edition of the awards, where the best hairdressers from salons across the country compete and set newer milestones.

The award celebration also marked the 25th year of L’Oréal Professionnel Paris in India. For 25 years, the brand has been the frontrunner in shaping the salon industry of India and catering to all hairdressers and consumers.

The awards ceremony was held in a hybrid model (virtual and on-ground) bringing together an evening of colour, glamour, and celebration.

The awards were divided into two main categories:

1. CREATIVE •The Style & Color Trophy •The Young Colorist Award •The People’s Choice Award 2. BUSINESS •The Best Digital Marketing Award •The Best SoComm Salon Award •The Young Entrepreneur Award

This year, the participants were challenged to create their own spin to the biggest hair color movement in the world, French Balayage, which is L’Oréal Professional Paris’s signature hair colour service that entails a 2-step technique, to create perfectly blended, natural-looking hair colour, which is tailor-made for every consumer. Hairdressers from across the country had submitted their entries showcasing their talent.

There were 26 finalists -15 in the Style and Color Trophy and 11 in the Youngest Colorist Award who got an opportunity to participate at the National Technical Finale held in Mumbai on 22nd February. For the finale, the contestants were expected to do a real time consultation with a model provided to them and choose a French Balayage look that would best suit her skin tone and face shape.

This competition was judged by a panel of five esteemed jury members that included photographer Jatin Kampani; make-up and hair designer Venus Ferriera; hair guru Aalim Hakim; founder and artistic director of Elle Hair Studio Group, Malaysia, Simon Koh; and creative director and training programme director of Pastels Salon,

Dubai, Natalie Kasses.
