EXPANDING THE BUSINESS HORIZON

With a strong presence in the beauty segment for over two decades, Vega has now ventured into the salon space with Vega Professional. Priyanka Parshurami in a candid conversation with Sandeep Jain, Director, Vega Industries, about the beginning of a new chapter.

As the Director of VEGA Industries (P) Ltd, Sandeep Jain represents the face of dynamic corporate leaders who are the torchbearers of the rapidly expanding Indian footprint in the global business arena. Having spearheaded VEGA’s foray into the fast growing DIY segment of grooming in consumer space, Jain is now carving a niche for the brand in the salon space with Vega Professional, with his innovative ideas and visionary approach. Excerpts from an interview with Jain…

Take us through your journey from Vega to Vega Professional?

For more than two decades, Vega has been passionately and dedicatedly bringing to consumers the best of beauty and styling tools. While we continue to strengthen our consumer portfolio, we now have taken a new leap with Vega Professional to further empower the creators and astute stylists in the salon industry.

Through our market study, we identified a strong need for a one-stop-shop for professional tools across categories in India and we forayed to fill the gap through Vega Professional, which would offer one of the widest professional portfolio of 200+ SKU across hairstyling, hair cutting, make-up and hair brushes categories.

Why did Vega Professional choose Rod Anker and Savio John Pereira as brand ambassadors?

Rod and Savio are among the top stylists in the country and they have not just created a niche for themselves but have continuously inspired the fellow professionals to create magic. Through our brand offerings, we want to leverage their expertise and experience in curating a power packed product portfolio as well as aid professionals to further master their crafts through a strong brand connect and insights that they bring to the table.

How is Vega Professional and its brand ambassadors planning a way ahead with this partnership?

We are together looking at providing a platform to the aspiring professional to learn and grow in their field using the best in performance and technologically advanced tools in their hands. Our plan is to cover the length and breadth of the country through our robust education programme to build a strong Vega Professional learning community and enable them to enhance their creativity. Starting with the launch of road shows in four metros, we will continue to participate and build regional programmes to further enable and empower them.

What are your plans for brand expansion as a team for the next five years?

R&D is at the core of everything we do. While we are planning a comprehensive launch with 200+ SKU acrossIndia, our endeavour will be to bring more innovation and introduce new categories in the professional tools segments.

As a brand we will strengthen our post-sales services by kicking off a dedicated pan-India service centre network and on-site services in all major cities. We will build a strong recall and become the most preferred brand in the segment.

Where do you see the brand in the next 10 years?

We envision to become India’s top brand in the professional category and continue to cement our positioning in consumer business and be a household brand.
