Festive vibes

Elton Steve Vessoakar, Hair and Make-up Artist and Educator, gives us a lowdown about cuts and colours trends that are this season’s jackpot.

The customer sitting in your chair is full of ‘Insta’ ideas about hair. So, how do you educate her on what’s really trending and what will suit her the best? By ensuring that you are well-versed about cut and colour trends and well-trained to understand hair types and skin tones. Our beauty expert -Elton Steve Vessoakar, talks about all things trendy in hair and make-up for the festive season.

CUT, COLOUR, STYLE

“For short hair, go for a structured square bob, which gives a very classy look, and for long hair, opt for curtain bang layers for that bounce and shine.”

“In colouration, techniques such as balayage, like hand painted hair, has changed the world of hair colouring as opposed to the streaky colour styles. Also, loads of gold and copper and icy browns are making a comeback this festival season.”

THE MAKE-UP FACTOR

“It is not necessary for the hairdresser to know proper make-up techniques but it’s good if they know at least the basics as hair, make-up and fashion are interrelated, they blend together. And knowing make-up will help the hairdressers contribute to the entire look of the person rather than just contributing to one aspect of the look.”

MAKE-UP FAVOURITE

“Smoky eyes are my all time favourite look as the technique highlights the eyeline in the most artistic and creative way, enhancing the overall look of an individual.”

EXPERT ADVICE

“The hair and beauty sector is a creative industry but you need immense hard work and dedication to achieve success here. So, the individuals who are aspiring to make a career in this industry should be open to creativity and hard work and then sky’s the limit.”

ELTON’S CHOICES

1. Graduating bob in short hair, as it is the most technical cut and has got structures, which helps elevate a person’s confidence.

2. Lots of layers in long hair as it gives volume, bounce and movement to the hair, making it look rich and classy.
