Taking a leaf from the ancient Indian education system of Gurukul, Calyx Professional has launched Calyx Academy to support underprivileged students with free beauty education. Ravi Ravrani, Ceo, Calyx Professional and Founder, Calyx academy talks about his dream project with Priyanka Parshurami.
In today’s digital age, Gen Z is looking at Instagram Reels or Tiktok videos for education. Changing this perception is Ravi Ravrani, CEO, Calyx Professional who has introduced Calyx Academy that follows Gurukul - the ancient Indian education system. The Gurukul system of education is the epitome of learning as the shishyas or students live with their gurus and receive education, moral values and life skills, thereby learning in a holistic way under their guidance.
ABOUT CALYX ACADEMY
Calyx Academy, situated in a scenic location near Pune, was established on 8th May 2022 with the motto of imparting world-class beauty education to underprivileged students who are aspiring to make a career in the beauty industry. The education and stay at the academy is free of cost. This academy is the dream project of Ravi, and is different from the other beauty academies around the world.
Based on the Gurukul system, students at Calyx Academy stay with their teachers for a duration of three months. “I want to ensure that our students are not distracted by the world and they get immense knowledge from their teachers during this time. By learning through the Gurukul system, the students are more focused on learning without any distractions,”says Ravrani.
Calyx Academy’s tagline is ‘We are on a mission.’ COURSE DETAILS -Duration - 3 months -Size of each batch - 34 students (only males) -Selection criteria -An individual aspiring to make a career in the beauty industry, but is unable to pursue it because of lack of funds. Calyx Academy works for the betterment of the underprivileged section of the society. -Curriculum -Basic and intermediate hairdressing -Additional details -The students are required to stay at the academy premises, where provision is made for them in dormitories. They have to follow a strict schedule that includes physical training, food breaks, hairdressing training and recreational activities. Distractions such as TV and mobile phones are not allowed.
FUNDING MANAGEMENT
The entire funding of Calyx academy is managed by Calyx Professional’s earnings and not through any affiliations and recognitions. “100 percent earning of the company from the Indian markets will be diverted towards the academy”, says Ravi.
