Harsukh Pathar, Managing Partner, Ocea Marine Cosmetics, talks about sustainable marine-based products and innovations in skincare with Priyanka Parshurami.

Ocea Marine Cosmetics established in 2008 by Harsukh Pathar, Managing Partner, Ocea Maine Cosmetics, was one of the first companies to introduce marine cosmetic products in India. Under the dynamic leadership of Pathar, and ably aided by Gayatri Sali, CEO, Ocea Maine Cosmetics, the company has taken great strides in the field of beauty and skincare. Ocea Marine started out as the sole distributor in India, Nepal and Bhutan for Thalgo Cosmetics, offering a wide range of products for skincare and body care (for both men and women), sun care, nutritional supplements as well as equipment for beauty solutions. And now, with the launch of its operations to Maldives, the Ocea Marine horizon has just widened further.

Eco-friendly Ingredients Pathar explains that Thalgo as a brand believes and is committed towards using the eco-friendly formulations. The products are 100 per cent marine formulation with their new formulas to include at least 90 per cent to natural origin ingredients. All the products are free from all parabens, artificial colourants and fragrances. Thalgo uses active ingredients, which are GMO free. Even all their boxes, POS and brochures are already made with cardboard from forests managed sustainably that respect biodiversity.

Trending Ingredients

A section of consumers is turning towards plant-based ingredients, which is really good as nature has abundant options, which are pure and safe to use. Nature has everything to provide humans to live a healthy, happy and prosperous life.

Apart from plant-based ingredients, few of the other innovative ingredients in skincare are like vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, plant stem cells, peptides, amino acids and exfoliant acids (salicylic acid, lactic acid).

Product Training

As per Thalgo’s international training protocol, it is mandatory to teach all trainers about the active ingredients of all the products, this makes the beauticians confident in using and selling Thalgo products. This is a win-win situation for the brand to provide the right information for all the products, as the beautician will be confident and dedicated to the brand for providing good results.

However, one of the challenges is that some beauticians lack basic education and are not interested in learning. So, they are taught about the basic ingredients, which can help them improve their service.

Secondary Packaging

Secondary packaging today has a lot of importance as it strengthens the brand image. Consumers get attracted to the product by the way of secondary packaging thus increasing profitability and productivity. Also, it protects the quality of the product during the time of transportation.
