Brazil uses QR codes to label cosmetic ingredients

From 01 November, 2023, the full list of ingredients in cosmetics and perfumes sold in Brazil will be required to be labelled in Portuguese. However, the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) recently adopted new rules confirming that brands will be able to use a QR code to make this information available to consumers.

This clarification was made in response to a request from the Brazilian Association of Personal Hygiene Products, Perfumes, and Cosmetics Industry (ABIHPEC), which wanted to reduce the impact of mandatory labelling in Portuguese, particularly for small-size products.
