BEAUTY THAT’S EARTH-FIRST

Lakmé Salon recently opened doors at Powai, Mumbai. Apart from the high service standards that the brand is known for, the latest outlet by Lakmé also boasts sustainable business process and interiors. Professional Beauty x Hairdressers Journal gives a glimpse of what to expect when you go a-visiting.

Lakmé Salon has been a trendsetter for the industry in more ways than one. Be it the experience of more than three decades or the network of 450+ salons across India, the brand has always set benchmarks in hair and beauty treatments, business protocols, training and customer experience. It’s latest store at Hiranandani Gardens, Powai, Mumbai, takes the baton further with its sustainable business process and interiors. With ecoconsciousness at the core of what they do, Lakmé Salon has set a shining example for others to follow.

Here are the sustainable practices that Lakmé Salon has initiated at one of their biggest and most opulent flagship salons yet in Mumbai.

GOING GREEN WITH THE DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES

• 100 per cent paperless billing

• Reduced water consumption by 50 per cent

• Use of LED lightings

• Air conditioning on optimal temperature of 24 degrees

• Partner mostly with cruelty-free, vegan and sustainable brands

• Use biodegradable disposables (even single-use spatulas are made of wood)

CSR CAMPAIGNS FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

• Through their Happy New You campaign, they brought about several sustainable changes in the salon operations.

• Under this, they also tied up with Project Nanhi Kali to promote education for the girl child.

• The brand sponsors primary education for young girls and invites their customers to contribute to the cause as well.

• Planted over 50,000 trees over the past two years, offsetting their carbon footprint.

By implementing green processes and encouraging their customers to partake in the sustainable measures, Lakmé Salon is making green future a distinct possibility for India’s beauty industry.
