A DUTI-FUL TEACHER’S DAY CELEBRATION!

Khushbu Malde, Co-Founder, Hair Castle Salon, Mumbai, recounts to Priyanka Parshurami how she celebrated Teacher’s Day with pampering sessions for her school teachers.

This Teacher’s Day there was a different vibe at Hair Castle Salon as its co-founder Khushbu Malde welcomed her teachers from Vidya Niketan School, Dombivli, for a day of grooming and some much-deserved ‘me time.’ Malde gave us a glimpse into how the day turned out to be.

DOWN MEMORY LANE

“My school and my teachers are very precious to me. I really loved them when I was young and all their memories have still stayed with me, even after 15 years of leaving school. I really wanted to do something for all my teachers. So, I thought why not call them and pamper them on Teachers Day.”

The reaction of the teachers when I first called them and invited them to the salon was priceless. They were completely shocked, surprised and thrilled to know that one of their ex-students is doing so well in life and that she still remembers them.

It was very difficult to contact them as most of them had retired or relocated. It took 10-12 days to get their contact details and connect with them. We managed to get in touch with 25 teachers, from grades 2 to10, and I am really glad that 10 of them could make it for the celebrations.”

LOVE AND CARE

“We greeted them at the reception area, had a cake-cutting ceremony, presented them with a memento, a bouquet and salon vouchers for free services.

We then pampered them with cut, colour and spa sessions as well as head, back and foot massages. We had also arranged for snacks and beverages to give them a luxury experience. I was quite surprised to learn that a few of my teachers were getting a hair spa done for the first time.

They were thankful and grateful that I still remembered them after so many years and got emotional that I invited them for a pampering session.”

UPCOMING INITIATIVES

“We are planning haircuts at old age homes and grooming sessions for unprivileged kids on Children’s Day as well as hair donation drives for making wigs for cancer patients.”
