Green tea-based skincare on the rise

It is common knowledge that green tea packs antioxidants and antiinflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. This has made green tea a popular ingredient in the cosmetics industry. With increased demand for organic products, the global tea-based skincare market is also witnessing a significant increase in demand. Rising awareness against the adverse effects of chemicals in skincare is another driving factor for this demand.

Various herbal tea varieties such as green, oolong, white, hibiscus, spearmint, to name a few have found their way to skincare formulations. White tea offers superior hydration and sun protection, while herbal teas such as hibiscus and spearmint offer relief from eczema, clogged pores and acne. These factors make these natural ingredients more desirable. Therefore, tea has emerged as an active ingredient in supplements as well as application skin care market. A surge for environmental-friendly and vegan product shall drive this demand further. To meet this growing demand, manufacturers are continuously refining and formulating advanced skin care products with natural ingredients.
