Sugar Cosmetics Records Profit, Tops Rs 500 Crore Revenue in 2024

Sugar Cosmetics anticipates continued profitability throughout Q4 of FY-24, building on December’s robust performance. January’s strong demand suggests sustained positive sentiments both in-store and online. With FY-24 revenue surpassing Rs 500 crore, the brand aims for further growth. Currently in 50,000 outlets and nearly 200 stores, Sugar plans expansion to 60,000 stores and 200-250 owned stores. CEO’s strategy includes broadening distribution networks to reach more towns. Introducing Quench skincare, a collaboration with Kareena Kapoor, diversifies Sugar’s portfolio into the Rs 25,000 crore skincare market. An IPO listing is on the horizon within two to three years.

Lotus Herbals vs Lotus Splash & What Delhi High Court Ruled

Lotus Herbals Pvt Ltd claimed exclusive rights to the trademark ‘Lotus,’ alleging infringement by DPKA Universal Consumer Ventures Pvt Ltd, co-founded by Deepika Padukone. In response to Lotus Herbals’ notice to cease using ‘Lotus Splash,’ a legal battle ensued. However, the Delhi High Court, in Lotus Herbals vs Lotus Splash, ruled in favor of Padukone’s company, 82E.

Justice C. Hari Shankar dismissed Lotus Herbals’ claim, citing lack of merit in their case of passing off. The court noted stark differences in appearance and pricing between the products, concluding no likelihood of confusion. Rejecting the injunction application, Justice Shankar emphasized the absence of a prima facie case. This judgement underscores the importance of substantial similarities in trademarks and product lines to establish infringement claims effectively.

Mintree Bags INR 90 Lakh Funding in Shark Tank India

Mintree, a premium skincare startup led by Kanikka Dewanii, recently showcased its potential on Shark Tank India Season 3. Presently, available in over 3000 outlets nationwide, Mintree aims for global expansion, having penetrated 75% of India’s major cities. Their forthcoming venture includes a direct-to-consumer line of skincare and beauty products, with a vision to offer premium skincare globally.

During the show, Kanikka Dewanii valued her business at INR 90 crores, seeking INR 90 lakhs for 1% equity. BoAt founder Aman Gupta opted out due to valuation concerns. Anupam Mittal and Vineeta Singh proposed INR 90 lakhs for 3% equity, plus 2% royalty until 1.5X investment return. Peyush Bansal and Azhar Iqubal followed suit with a similar offer, joined later by Vineeta and Anupam. This dynamic showcase demonstrates Mintree’s potential for growth and its attractiveness to seasoned investors.
