New appointment at The Estée Lauder Companies

The Estee Lauder Companies has appointed Akhil Shrivastava as the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, effective 01 November, 2024. Shrivastava succeeds Tracey T Travis.

Shrivastava, who joined Lauder in 2015 and served as SVP Corporate Controller, brings over 25 years of financial and leadership experience. Fabrizio Freda, President and CEO, praised Shrivastava’s financial and strategic expertise, stating that he will play a crucial role in driving the company’s strategic direction, profitability and sales growth. Freda looks forward to partnering with him for future success.

P&G’s salon at Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic village

Procter & Gamble, the Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, has opened the beauty and grooming salon in the Olympic and Paralympic Village Plaza for Paris 2024. The salon will provide haircare, grooming and nail treatments for athletes and their staff. The salon will be operating from July 18 to August 13 for the Olympic Games and from August 23 to September 10 for the Paralympic Games.

Renowned French stylist Raphaël Perrier and his expert team will deliver highquality services. The salon aims to support the 22,000 athletes and staff by helping them look and feel their best as they prepare to bite the gold.

L’Oréal Paris USA launches at-home hair colour device

L’Oréal Paris has launched the Colorsonic, an innovative athome hair colour device, exclusively at Target.com and Target stores in the USA after a decade of R&D. Colorsonic automates the hair colouring process by mixing dye and developer in a per fect 1:1 ratio, making it suitable for all hair types and textures.

The device is priced at US$ 124.99 with colour cartridges at US$ 29.99 each. It promises salon-quality results at home. This launch marks a significant milestone, aiming to change how consumers approach hair colouring by offering convenience and professional results, at the comfort of their homes.”

Olaplex appoints new COO/CFO and CMO

Olaplex has appointed Catherine Dunleavy as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, effective 13 August 2024, and Katie Gohman as Chief Marketing Officer, effective 15 July 2024.

Dunleavy brings experience from Away, Nike, Comcast, NBCUniversal, and GE. Gohman comes from L’Oréal, Ralph Lauren, Coach and Marc Jacobs.

Amanda Baldwin, CEO, expressed excitement about their addition, emphasising the strategy to leverage Olaplex’s strengths and realise its potential.

Cosmetify’s 2024 haircare rankings: Kérastase leads

Kérastase has emerged as the most popular haircare brand in 2024, with 12.8 million annual searches — a 25 per cent increase from last year. The brand’s strong online presence includes over 2.4 million Instagram followers and steady engagement. A recent out-of-home campaign featuring actress Sydney Sweeney, debuted in Times Square. It shone a light on the brand’s Elixir Ultime Hair Oil, further enhancing visibility.

Gisou has also shown remarkable growth and has doubled its annual searches. Therefore, securing the second spot. The brand boasts a 2.3 per cent engagement rate on Instagram and has over 858,300 TikTok fans. K18 is third on the list, with a 75 per cent increase in annual searches. Despite a smaller Instagram following, K18 boasts a strong TikTok engagement rate of 2.38 per cent.
