The quickest way to get on the same page with your stylist is to opt for red. Red is not just a hair colour, it’s a world of opportunities. You get to redefine your personality, dare to be different, and be your fashionable best - all in one go. It took me and the Wella expert all of 60 seconds to get talking about our love for red. I was at the Wella World Studio in Khar, Mumbai, for a colouration session with Koleston Perfect ME+. After a thorough consultation, we finalised ‘cherry red’ as the right tone for me.

As I already had regrowth from my previous hair colour, the Wella expert started by applying Wella Blondorplex with Welloxon Perfect 4%, using a combination of highlights and free hand painting to create a clean canvas for my colour. It was processed till level 6, lightening my hair to orange – the perfect underlying pigment to get my dream colour.

Once the hair was processed, the Wella expert rinsed the hair and applied Wellaplex Number 2, which is Wella’s Bond Stabilizer. It was left on for five minutes. He then rinsed it off and followed it up by the Wella Colour Motion shampoo and treated my hair with Blondor Seal and Care by leaving it on for another five minutes.

After towel drying, he toned my hair with Koleston Perfect ME+ 55/65 with Welloxon Perfect 4%, from roots to ends and developed the colour for 30 minutes.

The Wella Professionals Koleston Perfect ME+ comes with the combined powers of a Metal Purifier and the ME+ Technology. This ensures superior bond protection by preventing the damage caused by metals during the colouration process. It also enables the colourist to eliminate the requirement of pretreatments for neutralising the metals. It is free from PPD and PTD. With over 100 shades to choose from, the colour ensures up to 100 per cent grey coverage.

The Wella expert completed the colouration process with Colour Motion shampoo and the Colour Motion Post Treatment.

Once the colour was done, it was time to style my tresses. The Wella expert used tong size 28 to create movement, after blast drying the hair. He put on the EIMI Thermal image for heat protection, Sebastian whipped cream, which is a lightweight leave-in deep nourishment styling treatment, and the holding spray -EIMI Mystify Me.

As I thanked the expert and stood in front of the ring light for the ‘after’ pictures, I was mesmerised by the cascade of red falling down my back. The glossy shine, the perfect tone and the effortless styling made me look picture perfect. Looking at these photos, I feel everyone should try a Wella red at least once in their lifetime.
