Professional skincare is driven by research and innovation. With new developments taking place everyday, it is important for therapists to keep themselves informed. It has been 21 years since she began her journey with Skeyndor, which has enabled her to be at the forefront of all the trends in the Skincare world.
At the recent event concluded at Jean Claud Beiugn, Bandra, Beales gave an exclusive insight into the world of facial peels, an innovative skincare regime.
Here are excerpts from the interview…
EVOLUTION OF SKINCARE
In the past, skincare was primarily focused on treating skin problems such as acne and wrinkles. However, with advancements in technology and research, the focus has shifted towards a more holistic approach to skin health. Here are a few significant changes that this segment has witnessed:
• Increased awareness and emphasis on prevention rather than just treatment
• Innovative skincare products backed by science
• The rise of natural and organic skincare products
• Access to technology such as laser therapy, microneedling and radiofrequency
However, as a skin trainer and expert for the past three decades , my focus is on educating people about the importance of skincare and helping them achieve healthy and radiant skin through a holistic approach.
DISCOVERING NEW METHODS
Facial peels are generally mild and use natural ingredients like fruit enzymes or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) to remove dead skin cells and brighten the complexion. These peels are ideal for people with sensitive skin or those looking for a quick and gentle way to refresh their skin.
Facial peels are a form of exfoliation that can benefit a variety of skin types and concerns.
They can increase the effectiveness of skincare products by allowing them to penetrate deeper into the skin, which can help improve overall skin health and appearance by:
• Removing dead skin cells, unclogging the pores and stimulating cell turnover, resulting in smoother, brighter and more even-toned skin
• Improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scars, making them an effective anti-ageing and acne treatment
• Reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and sun damage, resulting in a more even complexion
While facial peels can be beneficial for most skin types, it’s important to note that they should be customised to each individual’s skin concerns and needs. For example, those with sensitive skin may benefit from milder peels, while those with oily or acne-prone skin may require stronger peels.
The frequency of facial peel treatments can vary depending on the type of peel used, the individual’s skin sensitivity and tolerance. It’s generally recommended to wait atleast 4-6 weeks between treatments to allow the skin to fully recover and regenerate.
UNMASKING THE BENEFITS
This unique and first-ever genetic de-pigmenting treatment is effective in reducing dark spots, melasma, tanning and photo damage. This exfoliation treatment is almost similar to the medical-aesthetic treatments that are ideal for dull, dark, pigmented, and tanned skin. With the usage of real diamond particles, and combination of acids (citric acid, lactic acid, glycolic acid, mandelic acid and phytic acid) and hydrolyzed plant keratin, we provide this treatment to unify and lighten skin tone.
It can help skincare professionals offer a wider range of treatment options, leading to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty. It can also help to further differentiate skincare products and to create competitive advantage in the market.
Facial peels can be a more cost-effective and efficient way to address skin concerns compared to more invasive procedures, wherein salon-based therapists can give dermatologist-like results, and make it an appealing option for their consumers.
The innovative facial peel technology will play a significant role in driving growth in the skincare segment as consumers continue to seek out new and effective ways to achieve healthy, beautiful skin.
QUALITIES OF A SKIN THERAPIST
I believe that one must-have quality for a skin therapist is a strong sense of empathy and a passion to give your clients the best experience they can ever have.
An empathetic skin therapist will be able to provide customised recommendations that take into account the client’s individual concerns and goals and will be able to communicate effectively to set realistic expectations.
In addition to empathy, a skin therapist should also have:
• Deep knowledge of skin biology and anatomy
• Knowledge about latest skincare trends and technologies
• Strong communication skills
• A professional demeanour
• Commitment to ongoing education and selfimprovement.PBHJ
