How to Get Rid of Petrochemicals in Make-up Sponges?
Taiki Cosmetics Europe, a supplier of custom beauty accessories and an application expert, has been researching alternative materials to traditional materials for many years. Eco-friendly NBR make-up sponges: The most common material used for universal make-up sponges is NBR (synthetic rubber), which is suitable for all types of formulas. This method even improves the sponge’s properties by giving it a softer touch and a more uniform application.
Bio-based premium PU sponges: Polyurethane is the second most common material used in the cosmetic sponge industry. Taiki now offers Ecoporous 70, a PU made up of 70 per cent biosourced ingredients, to reduce its environmental impact.
PU blender sponges that are more environmentally friendly: 3D make-up sponges are made of hydrophilic PU, which allows them to swell when wet. The eco-designed blending sponges’ range ‘Blooming Blenders’ incorporates up to 30 per cent plant powder replacing part of the PU to provide more natural applicators.
